Common questions about process serving in California and Kern County.

How much does process serving cost in Kern County?

Standard service in Kern County is $75 flat rate, including up to three service attempts and a completed Proof of Service. Rush (same-day) service is an additional $50. See our full fees page for all pricing.

How long does it take to serve documents?

Standard service is typically completed within 3–5 business days. Rush service is available same-day or next-day for most Kern County locations.

What happens if the person cannot be served?

After diligent efforts, we provide a sworn Due Diligence Affidavit documenting every attempt. You can then apply to the court for substitute service or service by publication.

Do I need to be present when documents are served?

No. Send us the documents and the subject's last known address. We handle everything and report back with a completed Proof of Service.

Can documents be served on weekends or evenings?

Yes. Standard hours are Monday through Saturday, 8am to 6pm PT. Evening and weekend serves are available for an additional fee.

What areas do you serve outside of Kern County?

We cover 21 major California counties including Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, Fresno, Orange, San Diego, and Sacramento.

How do I send documents to you?

Documents can be emailed as PDF to [email protected]. Most attorneys transmit electronically.

Are your process servers licensed?

Yes. All process servers are registered per California Business & Professions Code §22350. Agency license CA-PI-20114. Bonded and insured.

What is substituted service?

Substituted service (CCP §415.20) allows documents to be left with a competent adult at the subject's residence or workplace when the subject cannot be personally served after due diligence.

Do you serve restraining orders?

Yes. TRO service is treated as priority and typically completed within 24 hours of receipt throughout Kern County.
